Local family recovering from devastating fire

Many people spent Friday’s frigid weather tucked snugly in the warmth of their homes. Lori Bailey and her husband, Mike, spent it in the cold carcass of their burned-out home on Route 550 near Athens, sifting through the remains of their lives.
“I think we’ll be OK, no one was hurt,” Lori said as she watched Mike and workers for their landlord clean out their charred belongings. It wasn’t a pleasant sight, but she wanted to be there.
“I can’t stand anyone doing it without me,” she said. “It’s my stuff.”
