Celebrating the holidays with Big Brothers Big Sisters

The magic of the holiday season was displayed in the smiling faces of nearly 100 boys and girls Saturday afternoon during the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Athens County holiday party.
The scores of little brothers and sisters were entertained by craft-making, cookie decorating, card making, video games and card and board games throughout the afternoon at the Athens Community Center. However, the highlights of the party centered on the magical styling of Rusty Rittenhouse and a special appearance from St. Nicholas himself.
Rittenhouse — also a board member for the organization — took center stage first and dazzled the young senses of his audience by making himself “disappear” with an invisible cloak, transform an empty box to one containing a live rabbit and produce certain playing cards out of thin air.
