New nursing/rehab facility opens in Athens with much fanfare
The Laurels of Athens and Maplewood officially opened it doors Monday, Nov. 14, with a grand opening kickoff for the community.
The event featured an ice sculpture along with shrimp and a champagne fountain. Athens Mayor Paul Wiehl attended the event for the official ribbon-cutting ceremony.
The Laurels of Athens, located on 58 acres off of Columbus Road on the city’s north side, is a skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility that features 100 private rooms for both long-term and short-term stays. Each room offers its own bathroom and shower with television, phone and wi-fi, all free of charge, according to a news release.
